2024 Dymally International Jazz and Arts Festival

The Dymally International Jazz Arts and Arts Festival, first implemented in 2019, is designed to use artistic culture to promote and inspire thought. The late Mervyn Dymally was an internationalist, traveling over 60 countries throughout his political career-promoting the exchange of cultures throughout the world. We are seeking to honor his legacy in bringing the BEST of jazz and jazz-influenced music, arts, and culture to CSUDH and surrounding communities. The proceeds of this annual event benefit university programs such as the CSUDH Presidential Scholars, The Dymally Fellows Program and the African American Leadership Training Summit, as we seek to put our creative economy to work for the benefit of higher education.

DESCRIPTION
Spirithaus Gallery and Colored Waves present another powerful musical journey, with Mark de Clive-Lowe, this time supported with a full cast of some of Los Angeles' top Jazz musicians and vocalists. The project explores, remixes and celebrates the soul-filled music of the master tenor saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, whose powerful spiritual mantra "The Creator has a Master Plan" has reverberated thru the hearts and minds of all who have felt its powerful message. The supporting personnel include Mark de Clive-Lowe (keys/production), Teodross Avery (sax), Dwight Tribble (vocals), Carlos Nino (DJ), Brandon Eugene Owens (bass), and Dexter Story (drums). Previously performed in January of this year at the Blue Whale in L.A., the dates were a huge success and on March 3rd Spirithaus Gallery will be hosting a split night with two sets of this amazing project as well as an exclusive DJ set by Carlos Nino that you wont want to miss. The doors open at 7pm with the first performance at 8pm and the next set at 10:30pm. Tickets will be sold separately for each set and will include access to the afterparty (1am) which is open to all ticket holders.
